Connectivism Mindmap

How has your network changed the way you learn?
Years ago there were only a few things available for us to use to learn from or to retrieve information from such as books, libraries, films and encyclopedias. Today with all the advancements and the emergence of new technology, we do not have to go to leave home to go to college or to the library to use and read encyclopedias or to check out books for research purposes. The Internet makes learning easier because it can be accessed at anytime and from anywhere that there is Internet service. Also, everything that is available in a library is available online as well as information for research and the Internet has made communication and socialization easier as well.

Which digital tools best facilitate learning for you?
The online tool that best facilitate learning for me has been the distance learning courses that I’ve taken at Grand Canyon University and presently Walden University. These courses have provided various collaboration tools, socialization tools, and network tools such as designing blogs and wikis as part of the assignment.

How do you learn new knowledge when you have questions?
I learn new knowledge by asking the instructor if it is something involving the instructions that are unclear. If the instructions are clear, then I look things up on the Internet using Google and yahoo search engines. I usually look up material and then use the favorites button to bookmark the site for further future use.

Your cluster is detailed. I agree with you that the emergence of advanced technology has availed us the opportunity to stay within the comfort of our homes and still have access to qualitative education. Though, there are challenges with regards to Internet connection speed. Apparently, solutions are emerging. Through my network, I learned of new tools that could be used to compress video to a minimal size for easy download, irrespective of your bandwidth.

You have an extensive network for gathering information and checking the information for accuracy. Your personal connections seem to enable your ability to stay in the loop and gather information relative to your endeavors. I agree that by studying online many doors have opened to the understanding and use of educational technology and collaboration. Great mindmap and post.
